Christopher McQuarrie on the Latest Mission: Impossible: “I Think We Did Something Right”

Christopher McQuarrie revealed the public’s reactions to a test screening of Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning. One of the action sequences is reportedly so intense that it nearly gave a viewer a heart attack.

“We did a small screening, and someone said, ‘I was choking throughout the whole sequence. I almost had a heart attack.’ At that moment, I thought, ‘I think we did something right,’” the director shared.

Details about the plot are being kept under wraps. Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning is a film whose production history could itself be the storyline of a Hollywood blockbuster. The poorly received previous installment forced changes to the script for the eighth film while it was still in production. The pandemic, actors’ and writers’ strikes, and on-set mishaps sent the production budget spiraling out of control. Although the exact cost of Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning is unknown, it’s rumored to exceed a staggering $400 million.
