George Nolfi Becomes the New Screenwriter for the Rey Film
Initially, the screenplay for Rey’s next adventures was being written by Damon Lindelof and Justin Britt-Gibson. However, the duo left the project due to “creative differences.” Following their departure, Steven Knight, the creator of Peaky Blinders, stepped in. Reportedly, Knight delivered at least four versions of the script, but producer Kathleen Kennedy continued to raise concerns. Now, a new candidate has entered the fray: George Nolfi.
George Nolfi directed films such as The Adjustment Bureau (2011), The Banker (2020), and Zone (2024). As a screenwriter, his credits include titles like Ocean’s Twelve (2004), The Bourne Ultimatum (2007), and The Sentinel (2006).
Of course, this is not the only Star Wars project currently in development. Filming for The Mandalorian & Grogu, directed by Jon Favreau, wrapped up in December, with its release set for May 2026. Meanwhile, James Mangold and Shawn Levy are also working on their own Star Wars films, with the latter reportedly casting Ryan Gosling in his project.
