Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania was released in theaters on February 15, 2023. Will Scott, Hope and Cassie continue in Ant-Man 4 after Part 3 of the series?

With ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania,’ not only has the long-awaited third installment of the ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp’ series started in cinemas on February 15, but the new solo film with ‘Ant-Man’ star Paul Rudd also marks the beginning of the new Phase 5 in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and introduces a new Marvel villain who will exceed all expectations and be even bigger than Thanos. According to director Peyton Reed, the new ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp’ film is expected to be a spectacular start to the new MCU phase and be on par with the ‘Avengers’ films. However, does that mean we will see Ant-Man and his team for the last time in the third part? Here, you can find out about the possibility of a sequel in the form of ‘Ant-Man 4’ and how it could continue the story for our favorite characters such as Scott and Cassie Lang, Hope and Janet van Dyne, and Hank Pym in the MCU.

How about the sequel “Ant-Man” for part 4?

Since the new solo film of the “Ant-Man” trilogy is about to start, nothing is known about a sequel yet. Based only on the films that have been announced and are still planned, there are no indications of “Ant-Man 4” so far. Currently, there is no fourth part in the MCU timeline or the preview of future Marvel films. However, a fourth “Ant-Man” film has not been ruled out yet. After all, “Ant-Man” and “The Wasp” have become even more important for the MCU thanks to “Quantumania.” The end of “Ant-Man 3” also makes a continuation of the series seem possible, at least.

A Marvel producer gives hope for “Ant-Man 4

Marvel producer Stephen Broussard, who told Comicbook that “Ant-Man 4” is already being discussed, provides hope that the series could continue after the third solo film:

We are already thinking about it. Every movie has its own struggles, and you carry the scars of having made it and wanting to make it great. But hope never dies, and you begin to piece yourself back together after the journey of making the film. You start thinking, ‘What if we did X and what if we did Y?’ The wheels start turning, and you can’t help it. I can’t say exactly what that is, but those conversations and whispers have already begun between me, Peyton, and Kevin.
So, nothing is official yet, but a fourth film doesn’t seem to be out of the question, at least and it might still be planned for future stages. However, since “Ant-Man 3” hasn’t performed as well at the box office as Marvel executives would like, any considerations to continue the “Ant-Man and the Wasp” series could be discarded again. Whether there will ever be a fourth “Ant-Man” film remains to be seen.

Do the characters from “Ant-Man” have a future in the MCU?

Of course, will our favorite characters return for another “Ant-Man” movie with a potential sequel? In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, actor Michael Douglas spoke about reprising his role as Dr. Hank Pym and stated that he would play him again if there were a fourth film, but only if his character could die. On the other hand, Paul Rudd is unsure about his future as Ant-Man.

It is also unclear what the future holds for Scott’s daughter Cassie Lang after “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania”. She could potentially appear as a member of the future “Young Avengers” based on the comic book templates. In any case, the trailer for the new movie shows Cassie Lang in her new superhero suit, which suggests that her character could make further appearances in future MCU projects, although not necessarily in another “Ant-Man” film.

Could “The Wasp” get a solo movie?

In an interview with Variety at the film premiere of “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania,” actress Evangeline Lilly, who portrays “The Wasp,” revealed that she still loves her role as Hope van Dyne. She believes that it’s time for a Hope spin-off and a solo film for “The Wasp.”

So far, this seems to be just wishful thinking. There have been no official statements from Marvel officials about a potential solo film for “The Wasp.” As soon as there is news about “Ant-Man 4,” possible spin-offs, and solo films, as well as appearances of the characters in other MCU projects, we will keep you posted here.
