“Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom” will enjoy exclusive theatrical distribution for only a month. Warner Bros. announced yesterday when the film will arrive on streaming platforms.
When will “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom” be available on VOD?
“Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom” was released in theaters before Christmas. Its digital distribution premiere will take place 31 days after the theatrical release, which is January 23.
This means that it will appear on VOD services one day earlier than “Flash” and 10 days later than “Shazam! Fury of the Gods.”
For the time being, “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom” will be available for a fee to purchase or rent on streaming services. Warner Bros. has not yet revealed when the film will arrive on the Max platform. It is expected around the first half of March.
“Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom” not a blockbuster hit in theaters
The first “Aquaman” is the biggest box office hit of the current DC universe. It grossed $1,143.8 million worldwide.
“Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom” did not repeat this success. At present, its total revenue amounts to $377.7 million. However, this is a better result than the total revenues of “Shazam! Fury of the Gods” ($132.3 million) and “Blue Beetle” ($128.8 million), the two other DC premieres this year. It also earned more than “Flash” ($266.6 million).
Previously, Black Manta failed to defeat Aquaman. However, he still seeks to avenge his father’s death and will stop at nothing to deal with Aquaman once and for all. This time, Black Manta is more powerful than ever. He has acquired the power of the mythical Black Trident, which harbors an ancient and sinister force.
To defeat him, Aquaman unexpectedly asks for help from Orm, his imprisoned brother and the former king of Atlantis. Both must forget their differences in order to protect the kingdom and save Aquaman’s family and the entire world from irreversible destruction.
