David Soul, Detective Hutch from the cult TV series “Starsky & Hutch,” has passed away

American film and television actor David Soul, who portrayed Detective Ken “Hutch” Hutchinson in the popular 1970s series “Starsky & Hutch,” has died at the age of 80.

Who was David Soul? His most significant roles:

David Soul was born on August 28, 1943, in Chicago. He began his screen career in the 1960s but gained popularity in the following decade. His performances alongside Clint Eastwood in “Magnum Force” and in Dalton Trumbo’s drama “Johnny Got His Gun” were just a prelude to his most important role in his career – in the series “Starsky & Hutch.”

Aired for four years on ABC, the series told the story of two policemen from the fictional Bay City who solved various criminal mysteries while driving their distinctive red Ford Gran Torino. Soul starred alongside Paul Michael Glaser. The duo also returned in cameo roles in the 2004 remake with Owen Wilson and Ben Stiller in the title roles.

In the last decades, Soul appeared in several films, with the most notable being “Filth” with James McAvoy, based on Irvine Welsh’s iconic novel.

David Soul – cause of death:

The official cause of death has not been disclosed to the public. The actor’s wife released a statement: “David Soul, our wonderful father, husband, grandfather, and brother, passed away yesterday after a heroic struggle for life. He was surrounded by family. Over the years, he was not only an actor but also a singer, a stage personality, and a friend. His laughter will remain with those he had an immeasurable impact on.”
