Faux pas on “Bares für Rares”: Clumsy Dealer Damages Rarity

Mishaps happen everywhere, even on the flea market show “Bares für Rares” (Cash for Trash). In this case, it was dealer Markus Wildhagen who unintentionally damaged an exhibit.

Recently on “Bares für Rares”: Susanne and Andreas Drengwitz brought an astronaut figurine to Horst Lichter, hoping for a handsome sum in the dealer room. Indeed, the item immediately sparked enthusiasm from the host and his expert Detlev Kümmel. The latter evaluated the cute tin character at a proud price of 200 to 250 euros, thanks to the good condition of the rare toy. The couple joyfully accepted the dealer card and headed to Waldi and Co.

In the dealer room, everything initially went according to plan, everyone was impressed by the toy man from the USA. But then dealer Markus Wildhagen got his hands on it and accidentally broke the switch of the rare exhibit. “Then you have to buy it too,” the others called out to him, and indeed, the “culprit” pulled out 180 euros from his wallet and bought the piece he had damaged himself.

Fortunately, the damage is not significant Markus Wildhagen bought the tin astronaut not only out of guilt but also out of genuine interest. Fortunately, the damage can be repaired, and the switch should be able to be reattached to the rare piece after a minor repair. So, the matter ended well for all involved.
