Oscars 2024: Nominations Announced! What about the Poles?

Today in Los Angeles, the nominations for the 96th Oscars were announced. The Academy Awards for Arts and Scientific Knowledge will be presented on March 10. Our Oscar poll has already started, where you can vote for your favorites. You can participate in it HERE.

Oscars 2024: Who has a chance at the statuette? We sum up.

“The Zone of Interests” defends Poland’s honor

This year, Poland had a chance for several Oscar nominations. Unfortunately, the documentaries “From Where to Where” and “Apolonia, Apolonia” lost the Oscar race. “Peasants,” who had already lost their chances for an Oscar in the international film category, also did not receive a nomination for animation.

As a result, the honor of Poland is defended this year by the co-production with the Brits, “The Zone of Interests.” The film received five nominations, including in the main category. Unfortunately, among the five nominees, cinematographer Łukasz Żal is missing.

Oscars 2024: “Oppenheimer” leads nominations. Greta Gerwig without a nomination.

As expected, the big winner of the Oscar nominations turned out to be “Oppenheimer.” Christopher Nolan’s work received a whopping 13 nominations, including, of course, in the main categories.

“Bleak Creatures” did slightly worse. The film has a chance to win 11 Oscar statuettes. “The Time of the Bloody Moon” also performed exceptionally well, receiving 10 nominations. Only fifth is “Barbie” with eight nominations.

The biggest surprise turned out to be the absence of Greta Gerwig among the nominated directors. Her place was taken by Justine Triet for “Anatomy of a Fall.”
