Runner – What Do We Know About the Film?
The screenplay was written by Tommy White and Miles Hubley, the creators behind the indie films Folly of Two and Lucid 8. Directing this new action spectacle is Scott Waugh, known for Need for Speed and the recent Expendables 4. Filming is set to begin in March in Australia.
Deadline also shares the first plot details. The protagonist of Runner is Hank Malone (Alan Ritchson), tasked with transporting a vital organ within three hours to save a seven-year-old girl in urgent need of a transplant. What seems like a simple job turns deadly when a crime syndicate leader tries to seize the organ for his own purposes. Wilson will play a medical courier whom Ritchson’s character protects and escorts, forming a friendship along the way.
The film’s director recently spoke about the project. At a press conference, he told the media:
“I believe audiences have been craving this combination, and we’re trying to bring out all the surprising potential of the script Miles and Tommy delivered,” Waugh said.
