Scream 7 is said to be in the works while Scream 6 has yet to hit theaters.

With the sixth installment of the ‘Scream’ series, fans can anticipate an extremely bloody horror film. For the first time since 1997’s ‘Scream 2’, a part of the slasher series has received an FSK 18 rating. Another novelty of ‘Scream 6’ is its setting: unlike its predecessors, this one takes place in the big city, specifically New York. Meanwhile, fans can also look forward to the return of Courteney Cox as Gale and Hayden Panettiere as Kirby.

Although the film has not yet been released, ‘Scream 7’ is reportedly confirmed according to the ScreenGeek website, which cites various sources. The next installment of the horror series was officially given the green light by the studio Paramount Studios. Moreover, shooting for ‘Scream 7’ is scheduled to begin this year, so fans can anticipate a theatrical release next year. While no details about the plot of ‘Scream 7’ are currently known, fans can definitely look forward to another Ghostface killer.

You can see what awaits you in part 6 in the trailer:

Are the directors of Scream 5 and Scream 6 returning?

The directing duo Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, who have been collaborating under the name Radio Silence for a long time, were responsible for ‘Scream 5’, which is available to stream on Amazon, and now also for ‘Scream 6’. During the Part 6 premiere, the two were asked by Deadline if ‘Scream 7’ is in the works and whether they would be involved again.

If it were up to them, the directing duo would definitely continue the ‘Scream’ franchise. All that’s left now is to wait for an official announcement of ‘Scream 7’. If a sequel is already in the works before the release of ‘Scream 6’, it would demonstrate Paramount’s faith in the latest installment. Early reviews of the horror film are already praising it, and it will hit cinemas in Germany on March 9, 2023.
