The first reactions to ‘Top Gun 2’: “Maybe the best movie in 10 years”

It seems to be something of a film blast we have in store with the sequel to the 1986 Tom Cruise classic Top Gun.

For after an exclusive screening of Top Gun 2: Maverick at CinemaCon, the first and enthusiastic reactions have landed. We have collected a handful of them below.

However, in this country we have to wait a little longer for a new flight with Tom Cruise, as the film premieres on 26 May.

‘Top Gun 2: Maverick‘ has Cruise back in the role of the handsome pilot Pete “Maverick” Mitchell. In this sequel, he trains a number of new recruits. Including the young Bradley, who is the son of his old partner Goose, as one will know from the first film.

In addition to Cruise, the cast includes names such as Miles Teller, Jon Hamm, Ed Harris, Jennifer Connelly and not least Val Kilmer, who returns as Iceman.

• One word: Wow! Top Gun: Maverick is absolutely amazing in every conceivable way. The action and flight scenes are insanely intense […] You’re on the edge of your seat. I was not prepared for how emotional it was either. The audience cheered several times. It’s the real deal.

Collider, Steven Weintraub:

• I really loved Top Gun: Maverick. I was blown away by the photography and the flight scenes and of course by Tom Cruise’s performance. The rest of the cast was fantastic with special shots out to Miles Teller and Glen Powell. It’s the kind of movie you want to watch on the biggest screen possible.

The Wrap, Drew Taylor:

• Top Gun: Maverick is a deep cinematic experience and easily the best film of the year. What Kosinski, Christopher McQuarrie, Eddie Hamilton and of course Tom Cruise have achieved is epic and intimate, heartbreaking and heartbreaking. No matter how good you think it will be, it’s better.
