In 2006, a new teenage sensation hit the world when High School Musical starring Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens came out.
Two sequels were then released in 2007 and 2008, respectively, both of which were huge successes.
When there was a virtual High School Musical reunion in 2020 during the first shutdown, it was without one of the film’s protagonists to the great annoyance of fans worldwide.
However, it was not a lack of interest or love for the film series that kept Zac Efron from participating.
The Hollywood star has recently stated that he still has a great love for the movies that created his career.
When E-News asked Efron if he might be interested in joining a reboot, a positive response came from the pumped star:
For the High School Musical-hungry fans, in 2019 came a meta comedy series, ‘High School Musical: The Musical: The Series’.
The series is about a group of high school students from the school where the films were filmed. Students are now making their own musical set-up based on the film series.
Whether there will actually be a new round of High School Musical, time will tell. Until then, later this year you can see Zac Efron in the remake of Stephen King’s Firestarter.
