“Jurassic World”: The New “Jurassic Park” Already Has a (Nearly) Director and Release Date

If anyone was hoping for Steven Spielberg to return to dinosaurs – unfortunately not. It has just been revealed that negotiations are underway for David Leitch to direct the new film in the “Jurassic World” series. The creator boasts credits including “John Wick,” “Deadpool 2,” “Bullet Train,” and the upcoming production “The Fall Guy.” It has also been disclosed when the spectacle will hit theaters.

Will David Leitch Direct the New “Jurassic World”?

We now know the release date for the new film in the “Jurassic World” series. Universal Studios announced on Monday that they plan to bring the new installment to theaters on July 2, 2025. As we reported earlier, the screenplay for the spectacle was written by David Koepp, who worked on Steven Spielberg’s original “Jurassic Park” from 1993.

Spielberg won’t direct the project but will serve as a producer through his Amblin Entertainment studio. Among the producers are other “Jurassic” veterans, Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley.

David Leitch is set to be behind the camera. The creator is officially in talks to take the director’s chair.

According to Deadline, the film is set to be a completely new story, introducing viewers to new characters. It seems that neither the first (Sam Neill, Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum) nor the second (Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard) ensemble cast will return to the set.

The last installment of the series was “Jurassic World: Dominion” in 2022, directed by Colin Trevorrow.
