“Spider-Man: A Brand New Day”: Film Villain Chosen

Although filming for “Spider-Man: A Brand New Day” has been halted (READ ABOUT IT HERE), not everyone involved in the upcoming spectacle is taking a break. In the flurry of activity is the casting department — as reported exclusively today by Deadline, the film’s creators have selected another adversary for Spider-Man. He will be portrayed by Marvin Jones III, an actor known for his roles in Django and the series Black Lightning.“Spider-Man: A Brand New Day”: Film Villain Chosen

Marvin Jones III as Spider-Man’s Opponent?

According to journalists, Marvin Jones III will play Tombstone — a character he already voiced in the animated Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. His (anti)hero is one of New York’s most dangerous gangsters. Created by Gerry Conway and Alex Saviuk, Tombstone stands out not only for his role, but also for his appearance — he is a tall African-American albino with virtually indestructible skin.

At this time, reporters are not revealing whether in addition to Scorpion and Tombstone, Spider-Man will have to face other antagonists in the film.

The actor behind Tombstone is Marvin Jones III.

So far, we know very little (officially) about the new film. Besides Holland returning, Zendaya and Jacob Batalon will appear again. We also know that Mark Ruffalo will return as Hulk, Jon Bernthal as Punisher, and Michael Mando as Scorpion. The cast further includes Sadie Sink and Liza Colón-Zayas.

The director of “Spider-Man: A Brand New Day” is Destin Daniel Cretton. The screenplay is again by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers. The premiere is planned for the end of next July. It seems that the pause in filming caused by Holland’s injury should not delay that date.

If you like, I can also send you a polished English version suitable for publication (e.g. for a blog). Do you want me to do that?
