A24 believes in Olivia Wilde’s directorial skills

Olivia Wilde

Olivia Wilde will continue her directing career. For studio A24, he will direct a series inspired by Jennifer Egan’s books “A Visit from the Goon Squad” and “The Candy House”.

What do we know about Olivia Wilde’s new series project?

The Pulitzer Prize-winning novel “A Visit from the Goon Squad” was published in Poland under the title “Before time catches up with us”.

The publisher‘s note reads: When in the middle of the day you stop for a moment, stop doing anything – do you hear how time flows…? Of course not! You think it would be worth changing something, but you don’t have time for small things, let alone revolutions in your life. You get robbed. Slowly. From everything. From the dreams that you spin more and more quietly, secretly.

Bennie Salazar, an aging punk record label owner, and his assistant Sasha, neither know the other’s past. However, the reader gets to know it along with intimate details and stories of people they met on their way. Together with the characters, he goes from roaring analog records and amateur punk bands shouting their emotions at lively concerts uniting the audience to “downloading tracks from the net”, mp3 and excellent sound carriers.

J. Egan masterfully and with great psychological insight presents the process of maturing and aging in modern times called the digital age.

Olivia Wilde’s directorial projects

The series planned for A24 is not the only project that Olivia Wilde is interested in as a director.

For Sony, he is to shoot a show based on Marvel comics. His heroine will be Spider-Woman.

In turn, for Universal, he is preparing a ribald buddy comedy set during the Christmas season.

Her most recent directorial achievement is Don’t Worry, Baby. The film premiered at last year’s Venice Film Festival. It grossed nearly $90 million in theaters around the world. Thus, it was the third highest-grossing film of 2022 directed by a woman.
