Michael Bay (“Transformers,” “Armageddon”) is negotiating to direct the fantasy series “Barbaric.” It is an adaptation of the famous comic book published by Vault since 2021. The project is being developed for Netflix.
“Barbaric”: Series details
The star and executive producer of the series is Sam Claflin (“Me Before You,” “Daisy Jones & The Six”). The cast will also include Patrick Stewart (“Star Trek,” “X-Men”). The screenwriter and one of the producers of the project is Sheldon Turner (“Up in the Air,” “Road House”).
“Barbaric” is described as a combination of “Deadpool” and “Game of Thrones.” The comic, filled with absurd violence and dark humor, tells the story of the barbarian Owen (Claflin), who, along with his talking, aroused axe (voiced by Stewart), travels through a dark fantasy world. Together, they must face a sinister force.
Claflin will soon appear in the series adaptation of “The Count of Monte Cristo.” Stewart will soon appear in “Deadpool & Wolverine,” in which he will once again play Professor Xavier. Bay’s filmography ends with “Ambulance” from 2022. “Barbaric” would be the first series in the career of one of the most commercially successful directors in Hollywood history.
