Dune 2 will hit theaters later this year. With a first poster and a teaser trailer, fans of the first part are attuned to the sequel.

With the first “Dune” film, Denis Villeneuve has given us his vision of Frank Herbert’s legendary science fiction novel. However, the first film was only an introduction to the world of Dune and the desert planet Arrakis. Only in “Dune 2” will the main character Paul (Timothée Chalamet) become the leader of the Fremen and go to war against his adversaries, the Harkonnen.

Now there is finally a first official poster for the sequel. This shows Paul and Chani (Zendaya) preparing for the war over their planet:

Also, the first moving footage of Dune 2 has been released. In a first teaser announcing the trailer, we see Paul luring one of the giant sandworms:

What awaits us in “Dune 2”

At the CinemaCon in Las Vegas, trade visitors were recently presented with the trailer for the film, which is also awaiting us soon. In it, according to /Film, we see Paul and Chani getting closer, but also how Paul finally rides a sandworm, probably the most iconic scene from the novel. Also starring is Florence Pugh as Princess Irulan, daughter of Emperor Shaddam IV (Christopher Walken), and Austin Butler as the villain Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen, who is completely shaven with white skin and black eyes. The first glimpse of Dune 2 ends with a big battle scene.

At the show, Villeneuve explained that “Dune” was just a “starter” and that “Dune 2” was the “main course” (via IndieWire). We can also look forward to a lot more action than in Part 1: “‘Part 2’ is more action-packed, an epic war film, much bigger, much more action.” Florence Pugh’s character is described by Villeneuve as a “political chess player” and Austin Butler’s Feyd-Rautha as “an Olympian swordsman who is crossed with a psychotic serial killer.”

In addition, we can look forward to brand new sets and new imaginative designs. There is particularly good news for IMAX fans. In contrast to Part 1, “Dune 2” was shot entirely in IMAX format and should look even more epic in an IMAX cinema. The second part of the science fiction epic awaits us in cinemas from November 2, 2023.
