“Fast & Furious 11” was supposed to bring the fast-paced film series to a furious end following the current “Fast X”. But it may still go further.

Hardly anyone would have expected more than 20 years ago that with “The Fast and the Furious” one of the most popular and successful film series in Hollywood would have its origins. Starting out as an action hit about an undercover cop who stirs up the illegal street racing scene, the “Fast” saga has blossomed into a tale of honor, loyalty and family – and has captured audiences’ hearts with deep characters. In “Fast & Furious 11” the franchise should get a native finale, but a twelfth part may follow. However, this has not yet been confirmed, which is why we are first turning our attention to part 11 on the occasion of the theatrical release of “Fast X”: When does the film start in cinemas? And how does it continue?

Change of direction in “Fast & Furious”: Who will take over part 11?
Director Justin Lin, who was already responsible for parts 3 to 6 and part 9, was originally supposed to provide a brilliant conclusion to the “Fast” series with “Fast X” and “Fast & Furious 11”. In May 2022, however, he turned his back on the saga due to creative differences (we reported). Ultimately, The Incredible Hulk director Louis Leterrier took over. As Variety reports, he will also direct Fast & Furious 11.

“Fast & Furious 11” theatrical release: When will the final film be released?
There is currently no fixed start date for “Fast & Furious 11”. At the CinemaCon, however, leading actor Vin Diesel already revealed that we should expect the sequel in the course of 2025 (via The Hollywood Reporter). According to ComicBook.com, the original plan was to launch parts 10 and 11 a year apart, in February 2023 and 2024 to be precise. In the meantime, however, those responsible have said goodbye to this schedule. After the exciting cliffhangers from “Fast X“, fans have to be brave and wait.

Until the start of “Fast & Furious 11” in 2025, you can watch all the films in the series again in the stream:

Fast & Furious 11 storyline: how will the saga continue?
– Warning: Spoilers for “Fast & Furious 10” follow –

As reported by The Direct, the adventure in “Fast X” for Letty (Michelle Rodriguez) and Cipher (Charlize Theron) ends lightly: They managed to escape from prison and were finally rescued by a surprise appearance by Gisele Yashar (Gal Gadot). . Will they possibly rush to the rescue for the other members of the “Fast” family in Part 11?

At least they urgently needed it, because the ending leaves open how Dom (Vin Diesel) and Little Brian (Leo Abelo Perry) will continue. Although they managed to flee from Dante (Jason Momoa) for the time being, he blew up the dam, after which the film ended, leaving us in ignorance.

Likewise, the fates of Roman (Tyrese Gibson), Tej (Ludacris), Han (Sung Kang) and Ramsey (Nathalie Emmanuel) remain uncertain. We remember: the plane the group was on was shot down. Can they survive this assassination attempt?

Jason Momoa promises more racing action in Fast & Furious 11
Whatever the outcome of Fast & Furious 11, Jason Momoa has already promised Cinemablend that we’ll see more car racing action in the sequel. He really missed this in “Fast X”:

“It’s a pity about the whole thing that I couldn’t drive that much. But that will change in the next film. I would like to take driving lessons. I really want to learn this. I know how to ride a bike because I do my own thing and that’s why I did 80 percent of the bike stuff, which is great and I’m very happy that they gave me the credit to do it. The stunts that would jeopardize the whole film would of course be done by a stuntman, but I’d really like to drive more.”

Hobbs Returns: Big Comeback Role for Dwayne Johnson?
What would cinema be without the infamous post-credit scene? In the context of “Fast X” definitely poorer by a big surprise! After the credits, there is a brief reunion with audience favorite Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson) in the current action strip. Dante warns him that he would be next on his list. Accordingly, in “Fast & Furious 11” we should be facing a reunion that the fans have been waiting for what feels like an eternity. Hobbs will probably have to join Toretto’s group to face off against villain Dante Reyes.

Fast & Furious 11 cast: Who else is in?
Director Leterrier warned audiences that “Fast X” would have a tearful ending in an interview with Empire Magazine (via Collider):

“A war is brewing. It’s nearing the end and it’s a race to the end. There will be some huge losses. This war is big. I don’t want to give too much away, but what we’re planning for the next film is just massive in terms of action, scale and emotion. All kinds of feelings will be felt. Tears will roll.”

Anyone who has already seen the tenth part knows that they are right, because the lives of almost all the main characters are in danger. Still, we expect to see most of the cast returning in Fast & Furious 11, including:

Vin Diesel as Dom Toretto
Michelle Rodriguez as Letty
Tyrese Gibson as a novel
Ludacris as Tej
Nathalie Emmanuel as Ramsey
Sung Kang as Han
Leo Abelo Perry as Little Brian
Charlize Theron as Cipher
Gal Gadot as Gisele Yashar
Jason Momoa as Dante
In addition, the post-credits scene hints at a comeback for Dwayne Johnson as Hobbs. However, we will probably have to say goodbye to Diogo (Luis Da Silva Jr.) and Jakob Toretto (John Cena) because of the plot: the former had to lose his life in a street race, the latter sacrificed himself for the sake of Little Brian.

Vin Diesel already has precise ideas about the opponent
Since Dante’s vendetta isn’t over yet, a villain for Fast & Furious 11 has already been chosen. According to Variety, Vin Diesel already has plans for another opponent. So he wishes “Iron Man” star Robert Downey Jr. on the cast list. He could be the complete opposite of Dom Toretto, as Vin Diesel revealed:

“There’s a character that’s the opposite of Dom, who promotes artificial intelligence, driverless cars, and a philosophy that says that if you do that, you lose your freedom. There’s someone who thinks that’s the future and that’s in direct contradiction to the Toretto mentality.”

Whether we’ll actually see Robert Downey Jr. in the “Almost” finale remains to be seen. Letty star Michelle Rodriguez has at least one other idea for joining the cast on set: it’s for a performance by Jason Bourne legend Matt Damon.

Is Fast & Furious 11 the last movie?
“Fast & Furious 11” has long been traded as the last film in the main saga, but currently there are rumors about “Fast & Furious 12”. In addition, after the successful offshoot “Hobbs & Shaw”, further spin-offs, for example via Cipher, could expand the franchise (via Screen Rant). Although we will probably have to do without the main cast and therefore Vin Diesel with a heavy heart, the “Fast & Furious” series still has some exciting side strands in store that should provide plenty of action and thrills.
