No Comic-Con without a Marvel surprise: A first trailer for “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” has been unveiled, which should increase the anticipation powerfully.
The signs are pointing to farewell: Farewell to James Gunn as one of the biggest and most creative voices in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), at least temporarily, after the 56-year-old has switched to the DCU competition to become co-chairman and CEO there Act. Farewell also to most, if not all, of the current members of the beloved Guardians of the Galaxy.
The team in this cast around Peter Quill aka Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) with Nebula (Karen Gillan) Mantis (Pom Klementieff), Drax (Dave Bautista), Rocket Raccoon (Bradley Copper, US voice) and Groot (Vin Diesel , US voice) will embark on one last adventure together in “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3”. A first trailer was unveiled at the Comic-Con Experience (CCXP) in Sao Paulo, Brazil:
The incredibly good trailer has everything you love about what is considered by many to be the best Marvel film series: humor, wacky creatures, space action en masse, a deep emotional life of the Guardians, sadness, pain and hope. In short: a roller coaster ride of emotions. That’s what fans want to see, and that’s what they’re going to get – one last time. And if Pratt is to be believed, Gunn delivered his masterpiece with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (via Digital Spy):
“It’s awesome. James Gunn watched a rough draft the other day. I called him yesterday. We ‘facetimed’ and he’s very, very proud of the work everyone has done. He said it was the best job we’ve all ever done. He feels very, very safe. The script was fantastic. And I can say with absolute confidence that he has created a true masterpiece. And I can’t wait for people to see it. This is James Gunn. He did all three films, which is really rare and special in the world of big blockbuster trilogies.”
Exactly how the plot is played out is currently still under wraps. What’s certain is that Will Poulter will be joining the cast as Adam Warlock, along with Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Sean Gunn as Kraglin, Elizabeth Debicki as Ayesha, Sylvester Stallone as Stakar Ogord, Michael Rosenbaum as Martinex and Maria Bakalova as Cosmo the Spacedog . Gunn’s new “The Suicide Squad” favorites Daniela Melchior, Chukwudi Iwuji and Nico Santos also join the cast. And: Rocket Raccoon’s love, Otter Lylla, does the honors!
