Warner Bros. Has Released the First Official Trailer for ‘The Flash,’ and It Looks Fantastic Following the Previously Released Teaser Trailer.

James Gunn, who along with Peter Safran represents the new dual leadership of DC Studios and is tasked with consistently pushing the DC Universe (DCU) through films, series, animation works, and video games, recently shared part of the plans for the first chapter, titled ‘Gods & Monsters.’ The new DCU, which will launch with ‘Superman: Legacy,’ is not scheduled to begin until 2025. However, there will still be a few DC movies that have already been filmed. The most notable of these is ‘The Flash,’ directed by Andy Muschietti and featuring Ezra Miller as Barry Allen, aka The Flash. The film is set to hit German theaters on June 15, 2023, and according to Gunn, it will serve as a catalyst for resetting the entire DC Universe.

Gunn has indicated that he has already seen ‘The Flash’ and not only loves it, but believes it to be one of the best superhero movies of all time. Coming from the creator of ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), this statement adds weight to the hype. You can now see for yourself with the release of the first official trailer, which was unveiled as part of Super Bowl LVII:

Will ‘The Flash’ Change the Entire DC Universe?

Director Muschietti has found the perfect theme for the highly-anticipated solo film for Barry Allen, aka The Flash, based on the popular DC comics series ‘Flashpoint.’ In the film, the superhero uses his powers to travel back in time and save his mother, but he is unaware of the significant impact this will have on time. In his original reality, things are no longer as they once were, as the villainous General Zod (Michael Shannon) has no superheroes to stop him. Instead of relying on the help of Batman (Ben Affleck), Barry must turn to a very different Dark Knight (Michael Keaton) for assistance. Together, they must save someone from Krypton, but it’s not Superman that Barry will find.

This trailer is incredibly promising and looks highly compelling. The mere fact that two Batman actors, Ben Affleck (with a new costume) and Michael Keaton, will be featured is sure to get the hearts of fans racing. The fantastic inclusion of Keaton’s Batman using the classic theme by composer Danny Elfman for his solo films is sure to give you goosebumps! The trailer should leave you curious about Kara Zor-El, aka Supergirl, played by Sasha Calle. She is expected to play a crucial role, especially in the fight against General Zod, and has the potential to become a fan favorite. It is hoped that she has a future in the DCU. According to Gunn, the film will be the starting point of the new DCU, so be prepared for some big changes. For instance, an explanation may be provided for why Henry Cavill’s Superman is no longer there.

In addition to Ezra Miller, the cast of ‘The Flash’ includes Ben Affleck, Michael Keaton, Michael Shannon, and Sasha Calle, as well as Ron Livingston, Antje Traue, Rudy Mancuso, Kiersey Clemons, Saoirse-Monica Jackson, and Maribel Verdú.
