Liam Neeson is set to star in the prison break thriller, “The Riker’s Ghost.
The 70-year-old actor is set to reunite with director Neil Jordan after they filmed the neo-noir crime film, “Marlowe,” together in 2022, according to Deadline. Liam will play a convict who just wants to serve out the final stretch of his sentence, but he is then forced to help a terrorist escape from prison.
The film was written by Sean O’Keefe and Brian Rudnick and is scheduled to begin filming in September. Alan Moloney and Steve Richards will produce for Parallel Film and Endurance Media, respectively. Jake Katofsky, Susan Mullen, and Rupert Wyatt are also serving as producers on the film.
Jordan said in a statement: “This is a unique take on a prison break. It’s a brutal journey from prison to freedom by someone who just wants to serve his sentence. The reluctant escapee is played by Liam Neeson, and I am eagerly anticipating exploring this character with him.
Neeson is an established action star and will continue to make films in this genre until he is no longer in demand. In a 2021 interview, the “96 Hours” actor said: “I just turned 69 and my conversations with my agent now go like this: ‘Liam, have you read this script? It’s an action script,’ and I’m like, ‘Chris, let me ask you this. Do they know how old I am, right?’ ‘Yes, they do.’ ‘Okay, that’s all I want to know. Thanks.
