“Deadpool 3” brings us a reunion with numerous characters from the predecessors. Unfortunately, we have to do without a character from the second installment.

With “Deadpool 3,” we can not only look forward to the return of the weirdest Marvel hero but also to the clash between the titular hero (Ryan Reynolds) and Wolverine (Hugh Jackman). While Hugh Jackman is allowed to use his adamantium claws again despite his retirement, a character from the previous film will not return for the sequel, according to Decider.

Several reunions have already been confirmed for “Deadpool 3”: In addition to the goofball in the red suit, we will see the mutants Colossus (Stefan Kapicic), Ellie Phimister, aka Negasonic Teenage Warhead (Brianna Hildebrand), and her friend Yukio (Shioli Kutsuna) return to face new challenges. Wade Wilson’s lover Vanessa (Morena Baccarin), his roommate Blind Al (Leslie Uggams), and taxi driver Dopinder (Karan Soni) will also join the action. Even the perfectly ordinary Peter (Rob Delaney), the human X-Force member who lacks superpowers and only had a few minutes of screen time in “Deadpool 2,” will make his comeback in the sequel.

Unfortunately, a prominent star from “Deadpool 2” will not appear in the third installment. During the red carpet event for her new mini-series “Full Circle,” actress Zazie Beetz, who played Domino, explained that she will not be seen in “Deadpool 3” and is unaware of the improvisations typically used on the set during the ongoing WGA strike. She said:

“Well, I’m not in Deadpool 3, so I don’t know what they’re doing [with the improvisation]. I suppose they’re probably taking a break. I’m excited to see [the film].”

However, Zazie Beetz had expressed her interest in returning two years ago. In an interview with Collider, she revealed:

“I would love to reprise the character. That was always part of what could potentially happen. I didn’t have any specific discussions about it, though. But I’m interested. Not only would I like to revive the role, but I would also like to find a way to make a Domino movie or something like that. We’ll see what happens. But I haven’t had any face-to-face meetings yet.”

Since the filming of “Deadpool 3” only started at the end of May 2023, it is theoretically still possible to integrate Zazie Beetz into the film through a guest role. Although the actual implementation of this idea seems unlikely, it is not impossible.

There are also two new additions to “Deadpool 3”: Emma Corrin (The Crown) and Matthew Macfadyen (Succession). Concrete information about their roles is still awaited, but Deadline confirmed at the beginning of the year that the former will portray the film’s antagonist. The identity of the villain, however, remains a mystery.
