Four new stars could be cast for the video game adaptation “Mortal Kombat 2“. In particular, Shao Khan is being portrayed exceptionally well. Wow!

Make no mistake about it, the Mortal Kombat video game adaptation is primarily intended for fans of the iconic and long-running video game series. This is already evident on the Rotten Tomatoes ratings site, with a meager 54 percent from reviews but a great 86 percent from audiences. Who didn’t cheer as a fan at the sight of Liu Kang (Ludi Lin), Kung Lao (Germany’s martial arts export Max Huang), Lord Raiden (Tadanobu Asano), Sub-Zero (Joe Taslim), Scorpion (Hiroyuki Sanada), Sonya Blade (Jessica McNamee), Jax (Mehcad Brooks), Kano (Josh Lawson), Shang Tsung (Chin Han), Mileena (Sisi Stringer), Nitara (Mel Jarnson), Reiko (Nathan Jones), and Kabal (Damon Herriman) and Goro (Angus Sampson)?

As you can see, as a non-fan, all the names and characters make your head spin. How are you supposed to tell them all apart? But don’t worry (spoiler alert!), some of them aren’t even alive anymore. For this, you have to remember a handful of new names for the sequel that is in progress. Most recently, Tati Gabrielle (“Uncharted”) was reported as Jade, and “The Boys” star Karl Urban as Johnny Cage (via TheWrap). However, Urban is not yet 100 percent confirmed. It was said that he was in final negotiations. So keep your fingers crossed if you want to see him as one of the most important characters in the Mortal Kombat universe. Acting-wise, he would definitely have the mischievousness required. Plus, as an older Johnny Cage, that would open the doors for fan-favorite and Cage’s daughter, Cassie.

Now there’s brand new news from the casting front: Deadline reports that the cast for four more characters has been finalized. Specifically, Martyn Ford, Desmond Chiam, Ana Thu Nguyen, and Damon Herriman are new additions to the production. The real sensation, however, is who they will portray in “Mortal Kombat 2”.

Ford, a British bodybuilder and actor known mainly for B action films but also with appearances in “Kingsman: The Golden Circle” and “Fast & Furious 9,” will portray Shao Khan, the powerful enemy, conqueror, and ruler of many realms like the Outworld. An excellent choice, the 41-year-old, with a height of 2.03 meters and his maximum muscle mass, has exactly the right stature worthy of a Shao Khan. Ford himself has already commented on Instagram:

Mortal Kombat 2″ also features King Jerrod, Queen Sindel, and Quan Chi.

While Shao Khan may draw the most attention, the other three characters are equally important and significant in the film franchise. Desmond Chiam (“The Falcon and the Winter Soldier”) portrays the late King Jerrod of Edenia, who was defeated and killed by Shao Khan. Queen Sindel, played by Ana Thu Nguyen (“Get Free”), holds particular significance as Kitana’s mother. She was once the wife of Jerrod and later married Shao Khan following his demise.

Last but not least, Damon Herriman (“The Nightingale”) brings to life the powerful and cunning wizard Quan Chi. Hailing from the underworld, Quan Chi utilizes alliances to expand and secure his own power. It goes without saying that he would betray his allies at any time to save himself.

One thing is certain, “Mortal Kombat 2” has become much more intriguing, especially for fans.
