Is it Jodie Foster versus Generation Z? In one of her latest interviews, the actress allowed herself a humorous critique of the generation of people born after 1995. What does the star of the upcoming fourth season of the series “True Detective” have to criticize about the youth?
Jodie Foster on Working with Generation Z
Jodie Foster spoke about Generation Z in an interview for “The Guardian.” The actress discusses her efforts to help young actors, drawing from her experience as someone who started at a very young age. She recently contacted Bella Ramsey (star of “The Last of Us”) and asked her to introduce her at a Hollywood event. Foster is glad that young actors do not have to deal with the limitations she herself fought against, including those related to appearance or sexual orientation.
But the actress also has several complaints about the younger generation. What annoys her about so-called “zoomers”?
“They are very irritating, especially in the workplace,” admitted Foster. “They say, ‘No, I don’t feel like working today. I’ll come in at 10:30’. Or when I point out a grammatical error in an email and ask if they didn’t check their spelling, they respond, ‘Why do that? Isn’t that a bit limiting?'”
Balancing the humorous tone, Foster also shared advice for young actors and actresses: They need to learn to relax, not think about it too much, and come up with something of their own. I can help them with that. It’s a lot more fun than being – with all the pressure that comes with it – the protagonist of a story.
