Is Wanda Maximoff really dead? Or could the character, as is customary for Marvel, magically reappear in a future production? A Marvel book provides a clear answer.
After her appearance in the 2022 Marvel sequel “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness,” the fate of Wanda Maximoff, also known as Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen), in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) was initially uncertain. Now, a new book (via ScreenRant) reveals what has happened to the powerful witch.
In “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness,” the titular magician (Benedict Cumberbatch) must face the consequences after using a forbidden spell. Together with America Chavez (Xochitl Gomez), who can open portals to other dimensions, Stephen Strange ventures into the realms of the multiverse. During his journey, he seeks the help of Wanda Maximoff, only to discover that his former ally is not on his side.
Many Marvel fans were less than pleased with the character development of Wanda Maximoff. Her sudden transformation from a superhero to a villain dashed the hopes of an honorable exit for some viewers. Instead, Scarlet Witch was buried under massive boulders at the end of “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.”
Do you want to know what might happen in “Doctor Strange 3”?
It’s official: Scarlet Witch is dead Whether the boulders actually killed Wanda Maximoff was previously unclear. The MCU has shown us multiple times that characters deprived of life can return in unconventional ways. However, for Scarlet Witch, this is ruled out, as confirmed by the recently released book “Marvel Studios’ The Marvel Cinematic Universe: An Official Timeline.” A passage in the work explains that Wanda destroyed the Wundagore Mountain, caused it to collapse upon herself, thus simultaneously eliminating two major threats to the multiverse. Furthermore, the entry is marked with a symbol signifying the death of a significant character, making Wanda’s fate unequivocal.
