New “Game of Thrones” and “Big Bang Theory” series are to come

At the end of May, Warner Bros. Discovery will launch the new streaming service Max in the USA. As part of the announcement, the entertainment company also announced that, among other things, another “Game of Thrones” and a new “The Big Bang Theory” Spin-offs are planned.

The Tales of Dunk and Egg
After the success of “Game of Thrones” and the prequel spin-off “House of the Dragon”, series fans are heading back to Westeros. “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight” is to be the second prequel to George R. R. Martin’s (74) popular fantasy saga “A Song of Ice and Fire” and is based on the “Tales of Dunk and Egg” stories of the authors. Martin will write the scripts alongside Ira Parker and also serve as one of the executive producers, according to a press release.

Details about the cast or the release date have not yet been announced, but there is already an official description, according to which “two unlikely heroes” wander Westeros a century before the events of “Game of Thrones”: Ser Duncan and his squire egg. Accordingly, “great destinies, powerful enemies and dangerous heroic deeds” await the friends.

Chuck Lorre causes a “Big Bang”
Chuck Lorre (70), known for series like “Two and a Half Men”, meanwhile provides another comedic bang. After “Young Sheldon”, he is developing another spin-off to his popular sitcom “The Big Bang Theory”. Lorre takes on the role of executive producer, but Warner Bros. Discovery is still keeping a low profile on all other details about the new series.

It is not known whether Jim Parsons (50, Sheldon), Johnny Galecki (47, Leonard) or Kaley Cuoco (37, Penny) could return. It should also take a while before the whole thing appears, because Lorre is currently working with Nick Bakay (63) for Max on the comedy original “How to Be a Bookie”.

In addition, among other things, a “Harry Potter” series was announced for the new streaming service, on which the author J. K. Rowling (57) is working and which is already designed for ten years. Your books should be adapted in every detail. Daniel Radcliffe (33), Emma Watson (32) and Rupert Grint (34) will no longer be seen as Harry Potter, Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley – a new cast will take over.

Max launches in the US on May 23rd. In addition to content from HBO Max, the service also offers Discovery+, which will continue to exist on its own.
