What do we know about the series “Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menéndez Story”?

“Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menéndez Story” is the second installment in Ryan Murphy’s series that began with “The Jeffrey Dahmer Story.” It will depict the true story of brothers Erik and Lyle Menéndez, who were sentenced to life without parole in 1996 for the murder of their parents, José and Mary Louise “Kitty” Menéndez. While both pleaded guilty, they claim to have been driven to commit the crime by years of physical, emotional, and sexual abuse at home.

In May of this year, Erik and Lyle Menéndez filed documents requesting a retrial. Their decision was prompted by the statements of Roy Rosselló, a former member of the Mexican boy band Menudo, who alleges that he was sexually abused by José Menéndez when he was 14 years old.

Details of the plot are currently unknown. However, in addition to Ryan Murphy’s series, Netflix is also set to release a documentary about the Menéndez brothers’ case.
