A first concept-art and the theme of Elemental, the next film from Pixar animation studios, have just been unveiled. The film directed by Peter Sohn will be released in the summer of 2023.
Disney has unveiled the first concept art for Pixar Studios’ upcoming film, Elemental. Directed by Peter Sohn, to whom we owe Le Voyage d’Arlo, the 27th feature film from the animation studio follows the adventures of an unlikely couple, Ember and Wade, in a city where the inhabitants – fire , water, earth and air – live together. This enthusiastic young woman and this discreet young man are about to discover something elementary: what they have in common…
For his second feature film, the director was inspired by his childhood in New York. He explains, “My parents immigrated from Korea in the early 1970s and started a grocery store in the Bronx.
We were one of those families who ventured into a new country with dreams and hopes – all mixed together in a great bath of cultures and languages in pretty little neighborhoods. That’s what led me to Elemental.”
More than a film about the 4 elements, Elemental is above all about differences and living together. Peter Sohn adds: “Our story is inspired by the natural elements – fire, water, earth and air. Some elements mix with each other and others do not. What if these elements were alive?”.
The feature film will be released in our dark rooms in the summer of 2023. In the meantime, the next film from Pixar studios, Buzz Lightyear, will be in theaters from June 22 and we are already revealing an easter egg to you: is Peter Sohn who lends his voice to Sox, the robotic cat who accompanies Buzz in space.
