“Shrek 5”: The First Trailer is Here. Zendaya Joins the Cast as Shrek’s Daughter!

Universal and DreamWorks have announced that Zendaya has joined the cast of the animated film Shrek 5. The young superstar will voice the daughter of Shrek (Mike Myers) and Fiona (Cameron Diaz) in the original dubbing version. The cast also includes Eddie Murphy, who returns as Donkey. Shrek 5 is set to hit theaters on December 23, 2026. The film is directed by Walt Dohrn (Trolls) and Brad Ableson (Minions: The Rise of Gru). The plot remains a secret for now.

Shrek premiered on April 22, 2001. The animated film follows the adventures of the titular ogre (Mike Myers), who is hired by Lord Farquaad (John Lithgow) to rescue a princess trapped in a castle—only to unexpectedly find love. The movie won an Academy Award and grossed $484.5 million worldwide, making it the fourth highest-grossing film at the global box office that year.

Over the years, the franchise expanded with sequels:

  • Shrek 2 (2004)
  • Shrek the Third (2007)
  • Shrek Forever After (2010)

Additionally, spin-offs featuring Puss in Boots (voiced by Antonio Banderas in the original version and Wojciech Malajkat in the Polish dub) were released:

  • Puss in Boots: The Last Wish (2022)

Beyond Shrek 5, another spin-off centered on Donkey is also in development.

Zendaya’s Busy Year
