“The Black Phone 2”. Will Ethan Hawke return?

We have good news for fans of the movie “The Black Phone.” In the sequel announced for 2025, all the actors in the main roles, including Ethan Hawke, will be returning. For the actor, this will be his ninth project with the Blumhouse studio.

In the cast of “The Black Phone 2,” alongside Ethan Hawke, there will also be familiar faces from the original: Mason Thames as Finney, Madeleine McGraw as Gwen, Jeremy Davies as Terrence, and Miguel Mora as Robin.

Joe Hill, whose short story served as the basis for the screenplay, will be the executive producer. The original creators, Scott Derrickson and C. Robert Cargill, are responsible for the plot. Derrickson will also be returning as the director.

So far, the creators have not revealed any details about the sequel.

Directed by Scott Derrickson, “The Black Phone” is an adaptation of a story by Joe Hill, the son of Stephen King. It had its premiere in 2021 at the Fantastic Fest in Austin. The film was released for wide distribution in the summer of 2022 and earned $161 million, securing the 32nd place in the global box office.

The timid but clever 13-year-old Finney Shaw (Mason Thames) is abducted by a sadistic killer (Ethan Hawke) and imprisoned in a soundproof basement where screams are futile. When the disconnected phone hanging on the basement wall starts ringing, Finney realizes that he hears the voices of the killer’s previous victims. They are determined to do everything to ensure that the boy does not share their fate.
