During last night’s Netflix event, Tudum (the name comes from the characteristic sound that starts each screening on Netflix), the streaming giant unveiled the first announcement of the live-action version of the series “Avatar: The Last Airbender”. Along with showcasing the symbols representing the four elements, the material also confirms the release date: “Avatar: The Last Airbender” will debut on Netflix in 2024.

Additionally, the first photos of the series’ characters were shared on Twitter.

The published photos provide a glimpse of how the characters from “Avatar: The Last Airbender” will appear in the live-action adaptation. They feature Gordon Cormier as Aang, Kiawentiio as Katara, Ian Ousley as Sokka, and Dallas Liu as Zuko.

“Avatar: The Last Airbender” – the plot

The story of “Avatar: The Last Airbender” unfolds in a fantastical realm where the Fire Nation seeks to conquer the world. However, they face resistance from the other earthly nations: the Water Tribes, the Earth Kingdom, and the Air Nomads. Within each nation, there are skilled individuals known as benders, who possess the ability to control one of the four elements. Yet, the world’s ultimate hope lies with the Avatar, the sole individual capable of wielding mastery over all four elements. This role falls upon twelve-year-old Aang, who must overcome numerous challenges and demonstrate immense responsibility.

The cast includes Gordon Cormier as Aang, Kiawentiio as Katara, Ian Ousley as Sokka, and Dallas Liu as Zuko.

The showrunner, writer, and executive producer of “Avatar: The Last Airbender” is Albert Kim (“Sleepy Hollow,” “Nikita”). The series is produced exclusively for the Netflix streaming platform.

In 2010, the animated series was adapted into a film titled “The Last Airbender,” directed by M. Night Shyamalan. However, the movie did not receive a favorable response from the audience.
