The MCU is Shaking: Final Marvel Trailer for “Deadpool & Wolverine” with Emotional Cameo Appearance

Only a few days left until the theatrical release of “Deadpool & Wolverine.” Appropriately, the final Marvel trailer, which focuses on emotions, is now available.

Marvel fans can hardly wait: On July 24, 2024, Ryan Reynolds will make his debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) as Wade Wilson, aka Deadpool. Thanks to the multiverse, Disney and Marvel Studios are rewarding fans for the long, long wait not just with one Deadpool, but also with Hugh Jackman as Logan, aka Wolverine, and many more Deadpool variants. There are plenty of these in the comic universe, including Kidpool, Dogpool, Galactipool, Zenpool, Venompool, King Deadpool, and Lady Deadpool, to name just a few. But it’s not just countless Deadpool variants that come to the aid of the odd pair in “Deadpool & Wolverine” in their fight against evil and each other, but also characters that apparently hail from the universe of the deceased Wolverine. If you don’t want any spoilers, you should skip this trailer:

Okay, so you watched it. Who could blame you? And damn, yes: That’s Dafne Keen as Laura, aka X-23, from “Logan – The Wolverine,” undoubtedly the best “Wolverine” film ever. She is now 19 years old, and her character is correspondingly more mature, evidently playing a significant role in giving Logan in “Deadpool & Wolverine” the necessary push to fight for a world that isn’t his. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, she revealed that she initially feared reprising the role she played at eleven. To prepare, she watched the film again:

“I freaked out a little. I thought, ‘I’ve probably forgotten how to play her. She’s not in me anymore.’ We went straight to this pretty intense scene. I know I freaked out. But once they said, ‘Action!’ I really felt like we were back in ‘Logan.’ It was as if no eight years had passed.”

Also interesting: Lady Deadpool is finally seen in full stature, of course with a mask. This keeps the suspense alive here, at least. Some believe it could be Ryan Reynolds’ wife, actress Blake Lively, while others see rumors confirmed that Taylor Swift could make a cameo in this role—despite vehement denials that the currently most successful singer in the world is involved. Both have blonde hair, anyway. However, the stature seems more like Lively’s.

Whoever appears as Lady Deadpool, this secret will likely be revealed only when the only MCU film of the 2024 cinema year premieres. If you don’t want to be spoiled, you should get your ticket early.

“Deadpool & Wolverine”: Kevin Feige Promises Emotional Adventure

“Deadpool & Wolverine” is generating a lot of attention for several reasons: It’s the only MCU film this year, it’s the MCU debut of Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool and Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine, and it’s the first MCU film with an R rating in the US. This would correspond to a German age rating of 16, just like the previous “Deadpool” films.

In a conversation with Deadline, Kevin Feige, President of Marvel Studios and CCO of Marvel Entertainment, expressed surprise over the focus on the rating. In his opinion, past MCU productions have also been somewhat provocative. Moreover, they wanted to do justice to the previous “Deadpool” films:

“Yes, it’s not kid-friendly, yes, there’s foul language and blood, but the film is incredibly emotional. I always call it the most palatable R-rated movie you’ll ever see. It’s truly a celebration of friendship and family. I don’t want to overdo it, but despite the R rating, people will find it very heartfelt—in my opinion, more so than the first two ‘Deadpool’ films. That’s what I’m looking forward to: once people get past the swearing and the rating, they’ll see how sweet it is.”

After the final trailer, one must agree with Feige: With “Deadpool & Wolverine,” the audience could indeed shed a tear or two. If you want to refresh your memory by watching the previous “Deadpool” and “Wolverine” films again, they are all available on the streaming service Disney+.
