Filming for “Alien: Romulus” has been completed. The project, led by Fede Álvarez, will neither be a sequel nor a spin-off of the previous installments in the series about the deadly xenomorph. It’s a completely new story, set in the same world as Ridley Scott and James Cameron’s films.

Details of the plot for “Alien: Romulus” are being kept under wraps. It is only known that the heroes, a group of young people, will venture to a distant place where they must confront a xenomorph. The main role has been given to Cailee Spaeny (“Mare of Easttown,” “Pacific Rim: Uprising”), who will be joined by Isabela Merced, known for her roles in “Dora and the City of Gold” and “Transformers: The Last Knight.”

Currently, the latest installment in the series, “Alien: Covenant,” is directed by Ridley Scott and was released in 2017.
The settlement ship “Covenant” arrives on an unknown planet that initially appears to be a paradise for humans. However, the expedition members soon discover that they have landed in a dark world full of mysteries and riddles, with the android David (played by Oscar nominee Michael Fassbender) being the sole survivor of the “Prometheus” disaster. As they uncover an unimaginable threat, they must make a terrifying attempt to escape.
Fede Álvarez – notable films
Fede Álvarez, a director, screenwriter, and producer born in Uruguay, made his English-language debut with the 2013 reboot of “Evil Dead.” Since then, Álvarez has directed two parts of the thriller “Don’t Breathe,” “The Girl in the Spider’s Web,” an adaptation of Stieg Larsson’s bestseller, and the Apple TV+ series “Call Waiting.”
