In early 2023, Hawkeye actor Jeremy Renner suffered a serious accident. Over a year later, he has now commented on his future in the MCU.
Jeremy Renner is inseparably linked to the beginning of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) along with Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Mark Ruffalo (Hulk), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), and others. The actor, who has been playing the archer Hawkeye since “Thor”, had to take a long break. Because on New Year’s Day 2023, he suffered a serious accident while snowplowing and has been in treatment ever since.
Renner has been on the road to recovery for some time and has discussed his future in the MCU in a conversation with Entertainment Tonight:
“I’m always eager. I’ll be strong enough soon, I’m sure of it. I’ll be ready. All the [Marvel] people were at my bedside, and they’ve been with me throughout the entire recovery. So if they want me, they can have me. That would be something.”
Although Hailee Steinfeld has stepped into the MCU footsteps of Jeremy Renner with appearances as Kate Bishop in the Disney+ series “Hawkeye” and in “The Marvels”, there is certainly still a place for Hawkeye in the vast superhero universe in the future.
Jeremy Renner is on the road to recovery In the conversation, the actor also talked about his ongoing recovery, which is still not complete:
“I’m doing about 90% of the things I should be doing… I think in the next six months, hopefully, I’ll be doing more walking… I have to set goals for myself. I’ll do everything I can… whatever it takes to heal, to get stronger. It’s a one-way street, this recovery. For the rest of my life, it’s going to be about health and well-being. Recovery will be a part of me for the rest of my life, so I’m looking forward to it. There’s always something to do to get better, to get stronger, to be happier, healthier, and that’s what I’m looking forward to.”
Fans of Jeremy Renner can definitely look forward to the actor being on the road to recovery a year after his serious accident and also being available for further appearances in the MCU.
