James Gunn is gradually assembling the cast of DC’s “Superman: Legacy.” One of the casting decisions is a dream come true for many DC Comics fans: Nathan Fillion will portray Green Lantern!
Nathan Fillion’s inclusion in the show “Superman: Legacy” shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone. The actor has appeared in several films directed by James Gunn, including his DC film “The Suicide Squad.”
Green Lantern is also familiar territory for him. Fillion has lent his voice to various animated films, including “Green Lantern: Emerald Warriors” and “Reign of the Supermen.”
However, in those animations, he voiced the character of Hal Jordan. In contrast, James Gunn has chosen a different Green Lantern character for “Superman: Legacy,” with Fillion set to portray Guy Gardner.
Interestingly, Guy Gardner was initially intended to appear in the HBO Max series “Green Lantern,” which was planned by the previous authorities at DC Studios. The role was supposed to be played by Finn Wittrock.

Not only Fillion, but there are also other newly announced cast members for “Superman: Legacy.” Here’s a list of who else will appear:
Isabela Merced has been cast as Hawkgirl. She will soon be seen in Sony’s Marvel show “Madame Web.”
Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific (recently seen in the western “The Gunslinger’s Revenge” and the TV series “For All Mankind”)
Hawkgirl is a character who has made numerous appearances in animations, but we have yet to see her in live-action cinema. Originally, she was intended to be part of the superhero team in “Black Adam,” but was eventually removed from the project.
Mister Terrific, like Hawkgirl, has never been featured in a live-action film before. However, Hawkgirl has made appearances in animations, “Smallville,” and the Arrowverse.
“Superman: Legacy” features David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan as its stars. The show is scheduled to premiere in July 2025.
