“Imagine a world where AI takes control. What if that’s exactly what happened? Could humanity defend itself? Will artificial intelligence always be weaker and imperfect compared to humans? Gareth Edwards attempts to answer these and many other questions in his spectacular science fiction film ‘Creator,’ hitting cinemas from September 29th.
During the war between humans and artificial intelligence, Joshua (John David Washington), a former special forces agent whose wife (Gemma Chan) disappeared under mysterious circumstances, is recruited to track down and eliminate the elusive architect of advanced technology.
The sought-after creator has developed a weapon that could contribute to ending the war but also carries the danger of annihilating all of humanity. Joshua and his team of elite agents, crossing enemy lines, reach a dark place where they discover that the threat to the world, which they were supposed to destroy, is artificial intelligence in the form of a little child.
Director Gareth Edwards (‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story,’ ‘Godzilla’) delves deep into the theme of humanity in the face of artificial intelligence with his latest work, ‘Creator.’ The film reveals to the audience various areas where AI can surpass humans.
In the end, humans have a heart, and robots—even the most innocent and friendly-looking ones—do not. Edwards tells a story of the future where the brightest scenarios envisioned by today’s skeptics of technological development come true. And he tells it in such a moving, convincing, and spectacular way that many viewers will leave the cinema in contemplation.
The film was made in collaboration with 20th Century Studios, New Regency, and Entertainment One. The main roles are played by: John David Washington (‘Tenet’), Gemma Chan (‘Eternals’), Ken Watanabe (‘Inception’), Sturgill Simpson, debutante Madeleine Yuna Voyles, and Oscar® winner Allison Janney (‘I, Tonya’).
