“Marvel’s ‘Deadpool 3’: J.Lo Reportedly Imposes Strict Ex-Wife Rules on Ben Affleck”

Filming of director Shawn Levy’s (“Free Guy”) Marvel film “Deadpool 3” is currently on hold due to the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) actors’ strike. Together with the writers’ union, Writer’s Guild of America (WGA), the entire Hollywood dream factory was shut down. Until an agreement is reached in the labor dispute between the two unions and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP), which acts on behalf of the film studios and streaming services, all filming will be delayed for weeks, if not months.
This forced break could come in handy for one person: According to alleged insider circles, singer and actress Jennifer Lopez is said to be anything but happy that her husband, Hollywood star Ben Affleck, is returning to the screen as the blind lawyer Matt Murdock and his alter ego Daredevil. Twenty years after his debut, he is reportedly set to reprise his role in the sequel to one of Marvel’s most popular franchises, which he says he regrets the most (via Independent).
Now, of course, it should not go unmentioned that it is not officially confirmed at the time whether the 50-year-old is even involved as Daredevil in “Deadpool 3”. However, he was spotted on the set of the Marvel movie (via Cinemablend). With the official confirmation that Jennifer Garner will be appearing as Elektra in the film (via The Hollywood Reporter), it would actually be only natural to assume that Affleck’s Daredevil can’t be far off either.

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner: Anyone who follows the tabloids regularly knows that the two were married from 2005 to 2015 and have three children together. They had met on the set of Michael Bay war drama Pearl Harbor but were just good friends at first, then filmed Daredevil together in 2002. It wasn’t until the summer of 2004 that they discovered deeper feelings for each other after Affleck split from – you guessed it! – Jennifer Lopez, earlier that year.
Deadpool 3: Jennifer Lopez reportedly demands access to the set at all times Jennifer Lopez – who has been dating Affleck since 2021 and married him in July 2022 – is rumored to be not too happy about her husband Ben Affleck and his ex-wife Jennifer Garner being back together in front of the camera. As Woman’s Day (via Mirror) claims to have learned from unnamed sources, Lopez is said to have set some rules:
“Jennifer Lopez wants 24/7 access to the set and the ability to drop in unannounced. There will be no joint promotional interviews [for Affleck and Garner], let alone photo shoots, and no after-hours social gatherings. She wants Ben [Affleck] to come straight home as soon as he’s done filming.”
These rumors would also, in a way, confirm that Affleck and Garner will only be making cameo appearances. After all, “Deadpool 3” delves deep into the multiverse of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), and Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine isn’t supposed to be the one fans have been following all these years, but an alternate version that also wears the iconic yellow costume from the comics. But until the time comes, MCU fans will have to be patient for a while, as the original theatrical release target of May 1, 2024, has been delayed.
