‘The Hunger Games’ returns to cinemas with a blockbuster prequel titled ‘The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes’.
The film has been in the works for some time, but now studio bosses have confirmed it’s set to hit theaters in November 2023.
The film’s release date was announced Thursday (April 28) during a presentation at CinemaCon in Las Vegas.
The film’s cast has yet to be confirmed, but film executives revealed that director Francis Lawrence, who has directed the last three films in the franchise, will return to direct the latest installment.
The strip will be based on ‘The Hunger Games’ author Suzanne Collins’ latest book, which was published last year. Set years before the events of the first films, the story follows a young Coriolanus Snow, played by Donald Sutherland in ‘The Hunger Games‘ films.
In the original films, Snow was the cruel ruler of Panem, but the prequel will see him mentoring a young tribute in the 10th Hunger Games.
