Icelandic director Baltasar Kormákur is back with a new adventure thriller, this time about a family trip that does not quite go as planned.
Idris Elba may at the moment be highly topical with the fantasy drama “Three Thousand Years of Longing”, which just premiered in Cannes, but also has other films that reach the audience later this year. Universal has just released the first trailer for “Beast”, an adventure thriller that will arrive at the end of the summer.
The plot of “Beast” follows Dr. Nate Daniels, a new widower returning to South Africa, where he first met his wife many years earlier. He has his two teenage daughters with him, and together they go to visit a game reserve.
What would actually be a healing journey, however, turns into a brutal struggle for survival, when the family begins to be persecuted by a bloodthirsty lion. The director behind the thriller is Icelandic Baltasar Kormákur, who has previously made action and adventure films such as “2 Guns”, “Everest” and “Adrift”.
The American cinema premiere of “Beast” is set for August 19.
