We had to be patient for a long time, but now we know when the new film with Leonardo DiCaprio will start in German cinemas.
Before Leonardo DiCaprio worked with Martin Scorsese on films like ‘Aviator’, ‘The Departed’ and ‘The Wolf of Wall Street’, the American director had another long-term collaborator: Robert De Niro. For “Killers of the Flower Moon”, the 80-year-old filmmaker now unites both Hollywood stars in front of the camera and after a long wait, the final release date has finally been announced.
In Killers of the Flower Moon, Martin Scorsese tells the story of the Osage County killings that took place in Oklahoma in the 1920s after major oil deposits were discovered there. The crimes finally bring an investigator from the newly formed FBI on the track, who threatens to unveil the obscure machinations in the region. The story is based on the book “Killers of the Flower Moon: The Osage Murders and the Birth of the FBI” by David Grann. Martin Scorsese co-wrote the screenplay with Eric Roth (“The Insider”).
After a long wait, it’s finally clear: “Killers of the Flower Moon” will flicker across the big screen this fall. In the United States of America, the western drama received a limited theatrical release from October 6, 2023 and will thereafter be shown in all US theaters from October 20, 2023. In Germany, a theatrical release for Thursday, October 19, 2023 was confirmed. The 200-minute film will then also appear on Apple TV+, as it is an Apple production.
In addition, the announced release date could confirm the assumption that “Killers of the Flower Moon” will be shown at the Cannes Film Festival in May 2023. If true, Killers of the Flower Moon would be the first Martin Scorsese film to be screened at the French festival since 1985’s The Time After Midnight.
Big streaming highlights await us this year, and not just on Apple TV+. Netflix also has many a promising flick in store for you.
