Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy recently won an Oscar. The coveted award was presented to him by US actor Sean Penn during a visit to Kyiv. This should remain in Ukraine as a “symbol of belief in victory”. “If you win, take him back to Malibu,” the Hollywood star commented.
It is the third time that the American actor and film director has visited Ukraine since the Russian invasion of the country began on February 24.
During the meeting, the President of Ukraine, in turn, presented Penn with the Third Class Order of Merit and thanked him for “his sincere support and significant contribution to promoting Ukraine in the world”.
The two then went to the place in Kyiv where there is a plaque with Sean Penn’s name on it, also called “Avenue of Courage”.
Penn, who won two Oscars for films such as Mystic River and Milk, first visited Ukraine at the start of the war to film a documentary about the conflict.
