With “The Brave and the Bold,” DC fans can expect a new chapter in the Batman saga within the new DC Universe. According to a rumor, a committed director could be involved.

What would a cinematic DC Universe be without confusing elements and multiple interpretations of the same characters? Even in the new DC Universe (DCU) under the guidance of James Gunn and Peter Safran, this unfortunate tendency persists. However, this time it comes with a new label: DC Elseworlds. This encompasses everything that exists outside the DCU, including Matt Reeves’ The Batman universe featuring Robert Pattinson as the Dark Knight and Todd Phillips’ Joker films with Joaquin Phoenix as the clown prince of crime.

At first glance, it may seem like another messy endeavor akin to the failed DC Extended Universe (DCEU). Yet, there are merits to it. While films within the DCU, under the creative direction of James Gunn, follow a unified vision, creative freedom is allowed within DC Elseworlds. Reeves, Phillips, and others also prefer it this way. Thus, DC movies can still deliver surprises.

The future of Batman within the DCU is already known. “The Brave and the Bold” will be part of the first DCU chapter, “Gods and Monsters,” presenting a new adventure with Gotham’s mighty protector. Inspired by Grant Morrison’s Batman and Robin comic series, this film will focus on the relationship between Bruce Wayne and his son, Damian.

The details regarding the director and the script are still unknown. However, there is a hot rumor from One Take News that Andy Muschietti might be selected for the job. The site claims to have obtained this information from unnamed sources. It’s important to exercise caution when considering this rumor for now. Nevertheless, it’s intriguing that the director of “IT” responded hesitantly to questions about his own Batman film, saying, “I don’t think I can talk about it yet.”:
