The second season of “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” will feature not only Tom Bombadil but also the Barrow-wights. The creators promise elements of horror cinema. Check out the photos previewing the new episodes of the Prime Video production.

The Barrow-wights Will Haunt “The Rings of Power”

The magazine “Empire” revealed cover variants of its latest issue along with a new photo from the second season of “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power.” They feature Morfydd Clark as Galadriel, Charlie Vickers as Sauron, and the Barrow-wights.

We know that Tom Bombadil (Rory Kinnear) will appear in the second season, a character somewhat associated with the wights. In J.R.R. Tolkien’s “The Fellowship of the Ring,” Bombadil helps Frodo Baggins and his companions when they encounter the Barrow-wights during their journey to Rivendell. From the above photo, it appears that Galadriel will meet the Barrow-wights this time.

“The Barrow-wights are ancient heroes brought back to life against their will to serve evil,” commented Jason Smith, a special effects specialist for the series “The Rings of Power.” “It was very exciting to show something that hasn’t been depicted before. We’ve seen undead before, but not like these. We’re shooting a small horror in the Middle-earth setting.”

“The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” – What Awaits Us in the Second Season?

In the second season of “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power,” Sauron returns. Banished by Galadriel, without an army or allies, the rising Dark Lord must rely on his cunning to rebuild his strength and oversee the creation of more Rings of Power, which will enable him to enslave all the peoples of Middle-earth.

In the new season, even innocent characters from season 1 are plunged into growing darkness, challenging them to find their place in a world increasingly on the brink of disaster. As friendships are tested and kingdoms begin to crumble, elves and dwarves, orcs and men, wizards and Harfoots join forces and fight bravely to preserve what matters most to them… each other. The premiere of the second season is scheduled for August 29 this year.
